Transfers So Far: England

There's another month until the end of the transfer window but already we have seen a lot of actively in the market.

  • One of the biggest signings of the Summer is Sergio Aguero from Atletico Madrid to Manchester City for 38 million pounds. That's 3 million more than what Liverpool paid for Carroll (What were you thinking!?). The last time an EPL team bought a striker from Atletico Madrid he scored 24 league goals in his first season (one of Liverpool's more sensible purchases) so it's going to be exciting to see Aguero's impact in England. Gael Clichy is also a new arrival as Jerome Boateng joins Bayern Munich for 17 million pounds.
  • Liverpool's been pretty busy this window with 3 key signings in Charlie Adam, Jordan Henderson and Stewart Downing. It'll be interesting to see what Dalglish now plans to do with 10000 midfielders in his team. They could do without Poulsen, Cole and Aquilani and I hear that talks are already underway to take Jovanovic to Anderlect.  Liverpool are now in the hunt for a left back with Jose Enrique and Aly Cissoko popping up on the radar.
  • Manchester United jumped out of the gates with the signings of David De Gea, Ashley Young and Phil Jones. Fergie now seems content to settle with his current squad however there's been persistent talk about Sneijder coming in to fill the Scholes shaped hole in their midfield. The competition between Young, Nani and Valencia will only benefit United's forward line and the smooth transition from Van der Sar to De Gea will be crucial to United's hopes of defending the title. Berbatov seems content to stay with the Devils however PSG have been rumoured to have come in with a monster bid for the Bulgarian.

    • Arsenal have been fairly quiet as per. They're still holding onto Fabregas with both hands however now they must also focus on keeping Samir Nasri with the club with threats of a swoop from United. Wenger did manage to sign Gervinho from Lille, who has been in good form during pre-season and looks solid enough to provide the Gunners with a few goals this season.
    • Chelsea have been uncharacteristically quiet this window with new boss Andre Villas Boas only signing Barcelona youth player Oriol Romeu so far. That said, there's been a lot of rumours about a move for Tottenham's Modric to add some creative flair to the midfield.
    In other news:
    • Aston Villa sign Charles N'Zogbia and Shay Given
    • Sunderland sign John O'Shea, Sebastian Larsson, Connor Wickham, Wes Brown and Craig Gardner
    • Riise returns to the EPL with Fulham
    • Captain Kevin Nolan leaves Newcastle for newly relegated West Ham

And because you read to the end have a tune on us!
