South Africa Promising. France fail to lift.

Photobucket
Last night South Africa proved critics wrong by displaying a strong performance against Mexico to finish 1-1, in the opening game of the World Cup. Mexico were heavy favourites, heck, even I placed a bet on the Mexicans. Thats $3 I'll never see again.

After a tight goalless first half, no-name South African striker Tshabalala finished off a wonderful set of passing to fire the ball into the top right corner in the 55th minute. However the crowd was silenced in the 79th minute when a Guardado cross found Marquez which he easily placed past the keeper.

There's not much to say about the Uraguay vs France game though. France chocked once again in a fiery match where 7 yellow cards and a red were handed out. In the 89th minute Henry's shot struck the arm of a Uruguay defender in the box, however his appeals for hand-ball were dismissed by the ref. Karma strikes again.
