Who's your pick for the Cup?

Photobucket

The reigning European champions Spain are the favourites to win the tournament for the first time, followed by South America champions Brazil. Following shortly behind are Argentina, England, Holland and Germany.

- The Spanish are coming into this tournament with a very strong squad and with the confidence from Euro '08 they deserve the title of favourites. Expect the David Villa and Fernando Torres partnership to blossom this month. David Villa for the golden boot.

- Brazil will always be amongst the favourites to win the World Cup, but can they forget their quarter final exit to France in '06 to progress to the final? They are in a fine patch of form at the moment and will be difficult to stop.

- Argentina have a star studded forward line-up whilst this is Messi's chance to shine on the big stage. But with a drugged up coach in Maradonna, will they even have the organisation to get 11 players on the pitch?

- England expect every tournament to be their tournament but they've been disappointed on every occasion (apart from one). They'll miss the absence of Rio Ferdinand, but if Rooney fires up, anything could happen.

- Germany always turn in strong performances on the big stage. Making it to the final in 2002 and semis in 2006, can they put these behind them to finally win it for the fourth time? Schweinsteiger will shine in the absence of Ballack and captain Phillippe Lahm will be a strong leader from defence.
