Chelsea capped off their Championship winning season with another FA Cup to add to their cabinet. The Blues sealed the double after a 58th minute free-kick taken by none other than Didier Drogba that sailed beautifully into the bottom right corner with some help from the post to beat Portsmouth 1-0. However domestic success was never enough for Chelsea boss Ancelotti, who stated that “We wanted to win the Champions league this season.”
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich (who is rumoured to be richer than Greece, but then again, who isn’t richer than Greece these days) has spent truckloads to buy the right squad to win him (oh and the fans) the Champions League. It’s a cup that has eluded the club in recent seasons despite their rise in dominance in England . Abramovich is now so desperate for European glory that he has practically given Ancelotti a blank cheque to buy whomever he pleases. With names such as Fernando Torres and Kaka being thrown around the rumour mill. Ancelotti has displayed his optimism for next season, but then again who wouldn’t be optimistic with Torres and Kaka in your team?
Carlo after the FA Cup Final win - "Chelsea have never won the Champions League and it will be one of our aims for next season. But the Premier League and the FA Cup will also be important.
Psh, for a team that’s won the FA Cup 3 times out of the last 4 years, I think we all know what Chelsea will be focusing on next season.
