Rising Star: Mitchell Langerak, following in the steps of Schwarzer

Determined to scour the globe to bring you the latest talents, our search today has brought us to Australia.
Melbourne Victory’s Mitchell Langerak will take a similar path into stardom as Socceroo Mark Schwarzer. Langerak will debut his European career after Melbourne Victory finally settled on a $900,000 deal with German Bundesliga club, Borussia Dortmund.

Schwarzer started his European career at Dynamo Dresden in 1994 at the age of 22 before making his name in the English Premier League and is now acknowledged as one of the greatest footballer’s Australia has produced.

All that stands in the way of Langerak, the 21-year-old Queensland-born keeper, is a career defining medical test.
Langerak was disappointed in Melbourne Victory as they turned down two previous bids from Dortmund in April but of course is now pleased.
“I couldn't be happier. Borussia is a massive club. I'd like to thank Melbourne Victory for not only the opportunities they have given me, but also the faith they have shown in my ability.”
Best of luck to Mitch and maybe we'll see him feature in a Europa League final soon.
